abstract = {Nesta edição da revista, a presente seção conta com quatro resenhas de livros (também chamadas de book reviews), sendo que a primeira e a última foram escritas pelos próprios autores. Uma novidade é que todas elas estão também disponíveis em língua inglesa (elas começam na página 107).

Lembramos que as resenhas são escritas de forma abreviada e concisa, de modo a resumir o conteúdo dos livros (que tratam de assuntos relacionados com as diversas ciências que envolvem acústica, vibrações e áudio) e trazer informações acerca dos autores (para contextualização das obras).

Para este número trazemos as resenhas dos seguintes livros:

Eric Brandão, professor da Engenharia Acústica (EAC) da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), apresenta seu livro sobre Acústica de Salas (disciplina que ministra no curso) — o livro teve a revisão técnica pelo também professor da EAC William D’Andrea Fonseca. A obra foi laureada no Prêmio Jabuti (2017) e está na primeira edição revisada.

Na sequência, temos um clássico, o livro “Processamento de sinais para arranjos”, dos professores estadunidenses Don H. Johnson e Dan E. Dudgeon, uma leitura obrigatória para trabalhos no tema que lidam com ondas mecânicas ou eletromagnéticas.

O terceiro livro é de autoria de Jorge Patrício (professor em Portugal), referência em Acústica de Edificações.

Por último, temos o livro “Experimentos virtuais em vibrações mecânicas: dinâmica estrutural e processamento de sinais”, de autoria de Bin Tang e Michael J. Brennan, que escrevem a resenha de seu próprio livro (uma cooperação internacional).

Esperamos que a leitura das resenhas ofereça as primeiras compreensões e impressões sobre as obras e desperte a vontade de conhecê-las por inteiro: uma excelente maneira de ampliar o conhecimento e de se manter atualizado. || Title: Book Reviews – No. 54 receives four reviews, including novelties and classics || Abstract: In this issue, this section presents four book reviews, with the first and the last being written by the authors themselves. A novelty is that all of them are also available in English language (Portuguese versions are also available on page 101).

We remind you that the reviews are written in an abbreviated and concise way to summarize the content of the books (on subjects related to the various sciences involving acoustics, vibrations, and audio) and to bring information about the authors (to further contextualize the works).

Eric Brandão, professor of the Acoustical Engineering Program (EAC) at the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM, Brazil), presents his book on Room Acoustics (a subject he teaches in the program) — the book was technically revised by William D’Andrea Fonseca (who is an EAC professor as well). The work won the Jabuti Prize (2017) and is in its first revised edition.

Next, we have a classic, “Array Signal Processing”, by American professors Don H. Johnson and Dan E. Dudgeon, a must-read for studies on the subject that deal with mechanical or electromagnetic waves.

The third book is authored by Jorge Patrício (professor in Portugal), who is a reference in Building Acoustics.

Finally, we have the book “Virtual Experiments in Mechanical Vibrations: Structural Dynamics and Signal Processing”, by Bin Tang and Michael J. Brennan, who write the review of their own book (an international collaboration).

We hope that reading the reviews offers an initial understanding and good impression about the studies and awakens the desire to know them in their entirety: an excellent way to expand knowledge and keep up to date in the field.},
