The aim of this study is to understand how the soundscape has been related to the quality of work, rest, and leisure environments during the COVID-19 pandemic, based on the application of online questionnaires in Brazil. The results point to a worsening in the perception of quality during the pandemic. No interference from sounds was perceived in leisure activities, which indicates that the worsening in quality was due to the change in the habit of leaving home. For work and rest, the worsening can be explained by the need to concentrate to carry out activities and the expectation of silence. External sounds were widely perceived and evaluated more negatively than internal sounds. In the case of indoor sounds, the results indicate that people had a greater perception of control over the sounds produced inside their homes, despite the changes in the dynamics of indoor environments during the pandemic. Furthermore, traffic sounds were highly perceived as human activities returned to normal. As a result, the study partially confirms the hypothesis that the perception of the soundscape is related to the perception of the quality of environments and provides a portrait of the soundscape in one of the stages of the pandemic.
